
The Soil and Fertilizer Testing Laboratory under the Directorate of Agriculture Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management, and Cooperatives has been providing soil and fertilizer testing, as well as soil management services, across 12 districts and 109 local levels within Lumbini Province.
Currently, the Soil and Fertilizer Testing Laboratory, located in Khajura, Banke, operates in 12 districts under Lumbini Province: Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Palpa, Nawalparasi (West), Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, and East Rukum. In addition to soil and fertilizer testing, this laboratory also conducts technical training for operating mini-labs within Lumbini Province.
At present, the laboratory tests soil for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, organic matter, texture, and pH. For organic fertilizers, it regularly analyzes organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, moisture, and pH levels. Similarly, for chemical fertilizers, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and pH levels are routinely tested.
